Associate Professor and Clinical embryologist
With 30 years’ experience in clinical embryology and human assisted reproduction technologies, pre-implantation genetic testing and cryopreservation of human oocytes, sperm and embryos, Laura Rienzi is Associate Professor, Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Urbino, Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of IVI-RMA Global Research Alliance, and Scientific Director of GENERA network in Italy.
Prof. Rienzi obtained her degree in Biology magna cum laude in 1993 at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, University of Rome, followed by a Post-graduate Research Fellowship at the IVF Center, Hôpital Necker-Enfants malades, in Paris (1994-1995). She then also obtained a Master’s degree (2009) and a Specialization in Reproductive Medicine (2015) at the University of Padua.
Since 2016, she has been Adjunct Professor of Biotechnology in Assisted Reproduction at the Faculty of Biology, University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”, Italy. In 2022, she was appointed as Associated Professor, Department of Biomolecular Sciences, University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”, Italy.
In 2008 she founded together with Dr. Filippo Maria Ubaldi the GENERA IVF centers, with 4 different locations in Italy, where she has been Laboratory Director. In 2021 she was actively involved, as Scientific Director, in the creation of the European network of IVF clinics GENERALIFE. In 2023 GENERALIFE was incorporated in the IVI-RMA Global Research Alliance, where Prof. Rienzi has been appointed as Member of the Scientific Advisory Board.
Her scientific standing is witnessed by about 350 talks at national and international meetings and especially by a H-index of 71 (20.795 citations) and Scopus H-index of 64 (256 documents, 14.197 citation). She has also won several awards regarding fertility investigation and innovation.
